Apart Gallery to curate Yamake Art Project

Apart was formed by Adrian Palengat on London's Portobello Road in 1999. Acting on a tip from his artist girlfriend that the London artscene at the time was boring, arrogant, conformist and in need of something different, Adrian opened his 2500sq ft space on bohemian Portobello Road, an area untouched by galleries. Specialising in foreign artists working in different media, the showroom soon became a favourite of artists and collectors alike, for it's simple and unpretentious approach. Collaborations with a wide range of corporations ensued ranging from LVMH, Commes des Garcons and Royal Elastics to KSwiss, Jones Soda, Duotone Snowboards and Vladivar Vodka.

In November 2006, the space on Portobello was sold and two mini Aparts were opened in Tokyo. In 2007, Adrian took the showroom on the road, curating shows in France, Tokyo, London and Milan. In 2008, shows are being held in Los Angeles, London, Berlin and Las Vegas.

The House of Yamake show will be held in a three story former bank building on Westbourne Grove and feature individual interpretations of the Yamake figure by artists from around the world.
