Nick McFarlane

Nick McFarlane is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator working in London. Much of his artwork to date has dealt with New  Zealand's cultural identity and examined issues such as the wealth gap within society. His semi-complete Yamake features the New Zealand 10c coin, reworked as a skull and cross-bones... A fitting symbol for these turbulent financial times.

David Le Fleming

David Le Fleming

Le Fleming has been exhibiting as an artist for about ten years now, the past five years of which have been in London, Great Britain. Originally from New Zealand, his work is very distinctive, bright and decisive, yet with an air of being feral at the same time. His trademark traits are things such as standardised line breadths and floating 'noise environments' made up of typographic elements to house his human subjects. The shapes are simplified and fenced off with absolute punctuation, whilst the subjects are painted delicately and are sympatheticto the eye.

The canvas is key to Le Fleming’s work, choosing to work with found objects such as car bonnets or fridge doors. Anything which has character fits the bill, but particularly objects with typography still intact are of interest to him. Painting onto such materials has the advantage of acquiring certain contextual properties. They’re real things which have existed with specific purposes. By appropriating these found objects, the artist is toying with the line between authentic artifacts and couched projections of artistic discourse.

Italian born F.C. alias #codefc is a multi media artist who lives and work in London as vj/video artist/painter. He studied at Chelsea College of Art and Design graduating in Public Art and Design in2002.

His work blends rocky organic images, art history influences, computer design (where the name comesfrom) and of course his two decade activity in the graffiti/street art movement. He's been involved in a series of collective graffiti exhibitions and two solo exhibitions that included a collection of paintings completed over the last ten years showing a variety of media and styles.

The painting often escapes the usual square boundary of a canvas to be applied onto everyday objects found in skips, sometimes left abandoned using concrete/silicon, installed in places as ”illegal public art“, “performances” as an activity to transform/recycle society’s waste into art .

"I am a stencil graffiti pop artist out of the "bad lands" of Shakespearian rural Warwickshire, I take my inspiration from contemporary rock culture and the "cult of celebrity". With a background in graphic design I’m drawn to clean lines and expressive colours. Having enjoyed enthusiastic feedback about my work I want to go bigger and louder in the future."

The shape of Yamake is lends itself amazingly well to my current work 'luchador heads', a series of fictitous latin american wrestler masks painted onto old motor bike helmets.  The history of the 'mascaras' is a significant part of lucha libre, dating back to the days of the aztecs the beautifully crafted individual masks are handed down father to son, immortalizing the iconic luchador as a superman.

Paul Bryan Jr.: I got a feeling

Born 1944 in Pasedena, California. His hyper-realistic art was inspired by the simplicity of Oriental art paired with his love of Western pop culture. His work ranges from paintings of celebrities in their youth to playing cards, but most are two-tone portraits, all punctuated by his signature red dot. A former punk rock singer, Bryan has sailed the Bermuda Triangle, joined a band of cave-dwelling gypsies in Grenada, sought the Oracle of Delphi, and has personally presented portraits to Peter Fonda, Madonna, Bob Dylan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Pope Benedict XVI among others.
