Ben Allen: Homage to Leigh Bowery
Posted by Art Project Curator, 11/8/2008 8:24:29 AM
Ben Allen lives and works in Brighton UK.
He has worked with many clients including Virgin, Levis, Channel 5 and The Hoxton Hotel.
This year he has been busy creating bespoke wallpaper for one of London’s hip restaurants within the O2 Dome, selling to celebrities such as Richard Branson and painting 18ft wall murals for Brit actress Patsy Palmer.
Currently developing a bespoke range of furniture, fully equipped with designs hot off the back of his original works, Ben’s paintings juxtapose beauty against a harsher backdrop of textures found on the streets and buildings of his homecity and those he visits and absorbs around the world.
Working in a multitude of media and materials, his influences include comic book art, Japanese graphics and packaging, typography, physical communication, nature and the human condition.
Ben’s paintings have been exhibited from London to LA and are in private collections throughout the UK, Australia, New York, Barcelona and Japan. His work has been featured in the Observer, Elle Déco and GQ magazines.
His design can now be found on his latest release of luxury cards and shortly on a range of t’shirts featuring a range of his most iconic images.
